Since 1992, Feod Group has been providing comprehensive legal support and corporate services in Portugal, with Portuguese lawyers on our team.
Whether you want to start your own business or expand an existing one, Portugal offers unique opportunities not only to fulfill your entrepreneurial ambitions but also to obtain long-term immigration status.
Portugal’s D2 Visa, also known as the Entrepreneur Visa, is designed for foreigners who wish to start a business or have already invested in a business in Portugal.
Who Can Apply for a D2 Visa?
The D2 Visa program is open to various categories of entrepreneurs:
1. Entrepreneurs who wish to start a new business in Portugal.
2. Entrepreneurs who already have a business in their country of origin and would like to open a branch in Portugal.
3. Self-employed individuals – independent professionals who want to work in Portugal and already have a work contract or a written job offer. Freelancers and digital nomads can also apply if they can prove they offer differentiated services relevant to the country.
Key Requirements for the Program
To successfully obtain a D2 visa, applicants must meet the following key criteria:
✅Company Formation: Proof that you have established a company operating in Portugal or that you are registered as an independent professional.
✅Business Plan: A detailed business plan is required, demonstrating the potential of your enterprise. This plan will be evaluated in terms of financial stability and potential impact on the economy, technological advancement, cultural enrichment, and scientific achievements.
✅Share Capital: For a new company, you must confirm the capital that ensures the company can operate even if it does not generate profit. For small companies, an average capital of 5000 euros is required.
✅Personal Financial Means: Proof that you have the financial resources to live in the country for the first year, independent of your business income. As the primary applicant, you must have 100% of the minimum annual wage, which is about 9,870 euros. An additional 50% of this amount is required for a spouse and 30% for each child.
✅Work Contracts: For self-employed professionals, a written contract or offer to provide services is necessary.
✅Accommodation: Proof that you have a place to live in Portugal, whether through renting or purchasing property.
