Residence permit in Spain for financially independent foreigners
The category “Financially independent foreigners” (Non Lucrative Residence) is intended for citizens from non-EU countries, which allows you to move to Spain and receive a Spanish resident card with your whole family without having to buy a business, real estate, or invest money.
The Non Lucrative Spanish Visa is a more affordable alternative to the Spanish Golden Visa.
A residence permit of this type does not provide for the opportunity to study or work. Therefore, a prerequisite for issuing a resident card for financially independent persons is the availability of sufficient savings.
The income level is determined by the multifunctional coefficient of total income in Spain – IPREM.
The Indicador Público de Renta de Efectos Múltiples (IPREM) is an index used in Spain as a benchmark for the provision of aid, subsidies or unemployment benefits.
To obtain a residence permit in Spain without the right to work, the applicant must confirm his financial independence and the availability of funds in the amount of at least 400% IPREM for the main applicant and + 100% IPREM for each subsequent family member per month. The current IPREM for Spain in 2024 is € 600 per month or € 6 948,21 per year.
